Soppo Field Sunday School Leaders Sharpen Skills in Seminar

Some Church School teachers and superintendents of Soppo Field Council of Churches have been trained in a Teacher Training 101 Seminar that ran from the 15th-16th May 2020 at Love Abide Baptist Church Bwitingi. The program which had as theme “Training for Excellence” from James 3:1 had as objectives to impart Church School teachers with basic skills on how to teach, be good teachers, how teachers can take control of their classrooms and how they can be creative and dynamic. The close to 30 participants received lessons on: the importance of teacher training in local Churches, balancing authority and responsibility, and Discipline in the classroom. Many issues were raised especially that of late coming on both the part of Church School teachers and students. Teachers were encouraged to keep to time, prepare well, and be proactive and humble.

Rev. Dr. Liombe Timothy, Soppo Field Pastor urged the participants to be mindful, careful and watchful for they will be held responsible by God for what they teach. He also directed them to the CBC Handbook on the descriptions of the Education Ministry of a local Church. The Soppo Field Pastor also congratulated the participants for going through the program and appreciated the meticulous nature of the training as he strongly recommended participants to share the knowledge gained from the training with those of their different congregations. The Soppo Field Education Ministry Chair Dr. Tabah Emmanuel pointed out that it was a fruitful deliberation with enriching lessons aimed at improving on the level of teaching in Soppo Field Council of Churches. He equally remarked that the program is training of trainers as the participants are expected to carry out mini-trainings in their Churches. Ernest Nfor, Church school superintendent from Bender Baptist Church Bokwaongo said, his assignment is to share the same lessons with his teachers in order to better teach their students. Julius Tallah, the Muea Association Coordinator and teacher of Salem Baptist Church Bolifamba Mile 16 said such trainings should be organized frequently since it has a lot to contribute to the spiritual growth of Christians. At the end of the program, certificates were handed to the teachers. It is worth noting that the training of Church school teachers is vital for their support in nurturing and in the discipleship of Christians in the Church and Society.
