Health Services Launches Mobile Clinic Program

Bringing Quality Healthcare to Remote Communities through Innovation and Christian Compassion

The Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services (CBCHS) has launched a groundbreaking Mobile Clinic Program, furthering its mission to provide accessible, compassionate, and Christ-centered healthcare to even the most remote and underserved communities across Cameroon. This initiative is a strategic step in CBC’s commitment to holistic ministry—addressing both the physical and spiritual needs of individuals as a demonstration of God’s love in action.

For decades, CBCHS has been known for its excellence in healthcare delivery through a vast network of 16 hospitals, 27 integrated health centres, 54 primary health centres, and 7 training institutions. While these facilities have served thousands, many communities in rural or conflict-affected areas still struggle to access timely medical care. The new Mobile Clinic Program is designed to bridge that gap.

Why Mobile Clinics? Meeting People Where They Are

In Cameroon, many villages and settlements remain isolated due to poor road infrastructure, insecurity, or economic limitations. Expecting these populations to travel long distances for basic healthcare often results in delayed treatments, preventable deaths, and escalated medical complications.

With the launch of the Mobile Clinic Program, CBCHS is bringing healthcare to the doorstep of these communities. Fully equipped vans and mobile medical teams—consisting of nurses, doctors, lab technicians, counselors, and chaplains—travel regularly to designated sites to offer:

  • Primary health consultations
  • Maternal and child health services
  • Vaccinations and health screenings
  • Health education and disease prevention
  • Counseling and spiritual support
  • Referral for complex cases to nearby CBC hospitals

“The CBC Health Service provides exemplary healthcare with genuine compassion, with the overriding pursuit of evangelic witness,” the CBC overview states. The Mobile Clinic Program embodies this vision by reaching the unreached with both healing hands and the hope of Christ.

A Mission of Mercy and Evangelism

CBCHS views healthcare as more than just a professional duty—it is a spiritual calling. The mobile clinics are not only equipped to treat physical ailments, but also serve as platforms for evangelism, prayer, and discipleship. Each visit begins with a brief devotion or prayer, inviting patients to encounter God even in moments of pain or uncertainty.

Chaplains accompany medical teams to provide spiritual counsel, distribute tracts, and offer words of encouragement. For many who may not otherwise step into a church, the mobile clinic becomes their first point of contact with the Gospel.

This aligns with the CBC’s overall mission:

“To glorify God by proclaiming the Gospel holistically in Cameroon and beyond in obedience to the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ as led by the Holy Spirit.”

Community Impact and Testimonies

Since its pilot launch, the mobile clinics have already made a significant impact in several communities across the North West and South West regions—many of which are heavily affected by internal displacement and healthcare shortages.

One woman in a remote village near Mamfe shared:

“This is the first time in years a doctor has visited us. My child was treated, and they even prayed with us. We felt cared for—not just as patients, but as people.”

Such testimonies echo the Christ-centered values of CBCHS, which places equal emphasis on clinical care and spiritual compassion.

Training, Partnerships, and the Road Ahead

To ensure sustainability and effectiveness, CBCHS has trained mobile health teams in rural medicine, community engagement, and trauma-informed care, especially in conflict-prone zones. The program is also exploring partnerships with local churches, NGOs, and international health missions to scale up outreach, acquire more vehicles, and expand coverage across all ten regions of Cameroon.

According to Mr. Ngum Samuel, the Director of CBC Health Services,

“Our goal is to ensure that no one is too far or too forgotten to receive the care of Christ. The Mobile Clinic Program is one more way we live out our vision to serve all who need care, especially the vulnerable.”

Support and Get Involved

The CBC Health Services invites individuals, churches, donors, and partners to support the Mobile Clinic Program—whether through prayer, funding, medical supplies, or volunteer service. Every contribution helps extend life-saving care and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the most neglected corners of our nation.
