Youth-led mission trip brings salvation, healing, and hope to communities in Cameroon
The Cameroon Baptist Convention Youth and Students Department (CBCYSD) is celebrating an incredible milestone in its ongoing commitment to youth-led evangelism and holistic ministry. During recent mission trips to Mamfe and Idenau, young Christians boldly proclaimed the Gospel—and God moved powerfully. As a result, over 1,953 souls were won for Christ, with 1,328 decisions in Mamfe and 625 in Idenau.
These outreach efforts are part of CBCYSD’s broader vision:
“To develop youths and students who are passionately committed to Christ’s purpose for their lives and the world.”
Mobilizing the Youth for Mission
The mission trips were not just about numbers; they were a demonstration of what happens when young people are equipped, empowered, and released into ministry. Armed with the Word, compassion, and practical tools, youth groups carried out:
- Door-to-door evangelism
- Children’s outreach programs
- Medical assistance
- Prison ministry
- Evening crusades
- Counseling and discipleship sessions
- Distribution of sanitary pads, clothing, and Christian literature
Every activity was done with prayerful preparation and a focus on serving the whole person—spirit, soul, and body.
“Our goal is to build and strengthen the youth to lead a higher life by extending the cause of our Lord Jesus Christ in Cameroon and the world,” notes the department’s mission statement.
Fruit That Lasts: Lives Changed and Communities Touched
Testimonies from the field continue to pour in. One local elder in Mamfe said:
“We have seen many churches come and go, but these youths came with humility, respect, and fire in their hearts. Our community has been blessed. Our young people have been inspired.”
Another highlight was the prison ministry, where inmates not only received food and hygiene items but also the message of God’s forgiveness and purpose. Many broke down in tears as youth counselors prayed with them.
Youth leaders also conducted counseling and trauma support training, addressing the emotional and psychological wounds left by years of conflict and instability in some regions. These young ministers of the Gospel did more than preach—they listened, served, and loved.
Holistic Ministry in Action
The CBC Youth Department embodies the holistic mission of the Cameroon Baptist Convention—reaching people not only spiritually but also through social ministry, education, health awareness, and empowerment.
These mission trips were also opportunities to distribute Bibles, sanitary products, and other essentials to women and girls, reminding them that the church cares not just for their souls but also their dignity and well-being.
What’s Next? Youth Empowerment and Expansion
Building on this success, the CBCYSD continues to scale its reach through strategic projects like the Youth Empowerment and Economic Project (YEEP) and the Vocational Training Centre (VOTRAC). These initiatives provide interest-free loans, vocational skills training, and support for orphans and youths with disabilities, especially those affected by internal displacement in the North West and South West regions.
In addition, the department runs End-of-Year Prayer Retreats, Capacity Building Seminars, and biennial Youth and Leadership Conferences, which foster long-term growth and resilience among CBC youths.
Join the Movement: Pray, Partner, Participate
The CBC Youth Department invites all churches, alumni, individuals, and organizations to partner in empowering the next generation of church leaders and missionaries. You can support through:
- Prayer and fasting initiatives
- Financial donations
- Volunteering
- Donating materials like sanitary pads, clothes, Bibles, and school supplies
With over 25,000 active youth across CBC churches nationwide, there is a great harvest field—and the laborers are ready.
“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12
