ONE LOVE, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM

CBC Men’s Department Unveils Vision 2030: Building Strong Men for a Strong Church

Empowering men for spiritual leadership, missions, and socio-economic transformation across Cameroon

The Cameroon Baptist Convention Men’s Department (CBCMD) has officially launched its Vision 2030 Strategic Plan, a bold and transformative roadmap designed to develop spiritually mature, mission-driven, and community-empowered men across all CBC churches in Cameroon.

With over 25,000 active members in more than 1,500 local church fellowships, the CBCMD is one of the largest and most dynamic departments within the CBC structure. The launch of Vision 2030 signals a renewed commitment to equip men for godly leadership in their homes, churches, and society.

A Vision Rooted in Scripture and Strategy

Anchored in 1 Peter 5:10b—“Strong, Firm, and Steadfast”—the department’s vision is clear: to develop men after God’s own heart. Vision 2030 identifies key strategic axes aimed at shaping CBC men holistically:

  • Discipleship and spiritual growth
  • Evangelism and missions engagement
  • Leadership development
  • Social ministry and community impact
  • Membership growth and active participation

These priorities reflect the department’s desire to raise up a generation of men who are not only faithful in church attendance but active in advancing God’s kingdom in every aspect of life.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17 (NIV)

CBCMD Retreat Center Project: A Hub for Spiritual Renewal

A major highlight of Vision 2030 is the CBCMD Retreat Center Project, which aims to create a dedicated facility for spiritual enrichment, leadership training, and conference hosting. The center is projected to cost 190 million FCFA (~$317,000 USD), and by June 2025, only 18% of the work had been completed, with approximately $260,000 still needed.

Once completed, the center will feature:

  • Lodging and boarding for retreats and seminars
  • Meeting rooms for ministry and training events
  • Spaces for prayer, fellowship, and reflection
  • Income-generating capabilities to support missions

This facility is envisioned not only as a ministry hub, but also as a source of sustainable funding for CBCMD’s long-term programs and outreach.

Men on Mission: Evangelism, Discipleship, and Social Impact

CBCMD continues to mobilize men in evangelism and church planting, particularly in underserved mission fields such as Wabane, where each missionary needs $300/month for support. Through its partnerships with local churches, the department encourages men to sponsor missionaries, organize outreach events, and engage in community transformation initiatives.

The department also champions livelihood assistance, especially for men facing crisis situations. Through income-generating activities, microloans, and skill-building programs, men are encouraged to grow economically while contributing to the mission of the church.

“The Men’s Department provides a platform for spiritual enrichment and socio-economic development of Baptist men in the Cameroon Baptist Convention.”

Challenges and the Call to Partner

While the CBC Men’s Department has made remarkable progress, it continues to face major challenges:

  • Limited financial support to implement Vision 2030 activities
  • Underfunded missionary efforts, particularly in hard-to-reach areas
  • Slow progress on key projects, such as the Retreat Center
  • Need for stronger partnerships to support capacity-building and outreach

To overcome these challenges, CBCMD is inviting:

  • Churches and associations to integrate men’s ministry into field strategies
  • Individuals and donors to support through prayer, giving, and volunteering
  • Development partners and businesses to invest in CBCMD projects with long-term kingdom impact

Moving Forward: A Call to Action

Vision 2030 is more than a plan—it is a movement to mobilize men across Cameroon for holistic transformation. From prayer breakfasts and discipleship programs to farming projects and building support systems for one another, the CBC Men’s Department is raising the standard of what it means to be a godly man in today’s world.

“The Men now have a safe space within their local churches to discuss sensitive and real spiritual and practical issues concerning their faith and wellbeing.”

If you are a man in a CBC church, a supporter of missions, or someone with a heart for kingdom growth, Vision 2030 needs you. Your prayer, partnership, and participation can help shape the future of the church through strong, God-fearing men.
